Bradford CAMRA Future Pub Of the Season and Pub Of The Year voting


Pub of the Season (POTS)
Revised 14.4.2006

1. The awards system to continue being called "Pub of the Season".

2. A timetable to be drawn up for the competition and publicised on the branch website and in Tyke Taverner.
   The competition will begin with Spring nominations, voting at the following branch meeting and 
   presentation, at a date to be decided.  Subsequent seasons will follow the same pattern.

3. The current 1 year disqualification period is to be increased to 2 years or 8 award seasons.  
   In other words any pub winning a POTS award will not be eligible for nominations 
   for 2 rolling years.

4. The following criteria are to be considered before nominating a pub:
      Consistent Real Ale quality over a minimum 12 months.
      Ambience.
      Landlord’s commitment to Real Ale and current CAMRA policy.

5. Votes will only be accepted by either:
     A. Attendance at the appropriate branch meeting.
     B. Post.
	  
     In respect of (A) members may have a secondary vote if their original choice is "knocked out".
     In respect of (B) then the following will apply:

       A. Votes must be received by the branch secretary at least 24 hours in advance of the appropriate meeting.
       B. Votes to include members name, address, membership number and signature.
       C. Votes will only be accepted if received individually. Joint members can vote in the same letter. 
          Multiple votes will not be accepted.
       D. Postal voters can only pick 1 pub. In other words if their choice is "knocked out" they have no second vote.
   


Pub of the Year (POTY)
Revised 14.4.2006

1. POTY competition to comprise the previous years POTY plus the 8 current POTS.

2. The 9 finalists to be listed on the branch website as soon as possible after the Winter POTS has been finalised.

3. The following criteria are to be considered when voting:
     Consistent Real Ale quality over a minimum of 12 months.
     Ambience.
     Landlords commitment to Real Ale and current CAMRA policy.

4. Voting to take place at the March branch meeting, as follows:
     A. By attendance at the meeting.
     B. By post.
     C. At the Beer Festival at Saltaire in February.
	 
     In respect of (A) then members will complete a voting form on the evening.
     In respect of (B) then the follow apply:

          A. Votes must be received by the branch secretary at least 24 hours in advance of the appropriate meeting.
          B. Votes to include members name, address, membership number and signature.
          C. Votes will only be accepted if received individually. Joint members can vote in the same letter. 
             Multiple votes will not be accepted.

      In respect of (C) then members can collect, complete and hand in a voting form during the festival to a 
      pre-agreed scrutineer.

5. Only members of the Bradford Branch of CAMRA, together with regular attendees, are eligible to vote.

6. Members can only complete 1 voting form.

7. All entries must list all 9 pubs in order of preference.

8. The branch POTY entry into the regional/national competition will be decided by the Branch Members as 
   a separate item.

9. Additional awards other than POTS/POTY will be considered by branch members on receipt of a written proposal.

10. Voting for POTY should be promoted as much as possible before the final vote taking place.  At least try 
    and get the details of those eligible for the award in the Tyke Taverner, on the Website 
    and in the Bradford Beer Festival Programme.
